Chinese festivals ——Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar, is one of the most popular traditional festivals in China. It is said to commemorate the death of the patriotic Chinese poet Qu Yuan, who was framed by corrupt officials at the time and committed suicide in the Miluo River after the rent to show his protest against the corrupt officials. The traditions and customs of this festival vary from place to place, but there are some commonalities. First, the most famous tradition is the dragon boat race, which is held by fishermen to protect Qu Yuan’s body from fish and other animals in the river by beating drums and rowing dragon boats.

Today, dragon boat racing has become a popular annual sporting event for people. In addition, the making and tasting of zongzi – a food of reed leaves wrapped in glutinous rice and many other kinds of beans – is a must-do custom on this day.

When everyone returns home on this day to spend the holiday with their families, the joyful atmosphere will linger and you can drink wine with your family in a dragon shaped glass bottle, not without a variety of double glasses or other shaped glasses.
